Civil/ Structural Engineer

SABA Engineering is an established multidisciplinary engineering consultancy and project construction firm in East Africa, delivering large-scale civil infrastructure, geotechnical investigation, structural design, and construction supervision.

The Civil/ Structural Engineer is a vital position at SABA Engineering, responsible for steering core operational priorities, maintaining high standards of service delivery, and collaborating with cross-functional teams in Kampala. In this role, the incumbent will leverage their specialized knowledge to resolve day-to-day challenges, drive team performance, and support the strategic objectives of SABA Engineering.

• •Design, build, test, and maintain robust, scalable software applications and technology infrastructure for SABA Engineering.
• •Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, network connectivity, and operating system issues for end-users across Kampala.
• •Implement stringent cybersecurity safeguards, data encryption standards, access control policies, and system backup protocols.
• •Collaborate with product managers and business stakeholders to translate functional requirements into high-performance technical specifications.
• •Administer cloud infrastructure, database servers, API integrations, and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
• •Conduct regular vulnerability audits, software patch deployments, and performance optimization benchmarking.
• •Develop comprehensive technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and user troubleshooting manuals.
• •Evaluate emerging technologies and digital tools to enhance organizational operational efficiency and digital transformation.

• ✓Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related discipline.
• ✓At least 2 to 5 years of professional experience in software development, systems administration, or IT support.
• ✓Hands-on proficiency with modern programming languages, database systems (SQL/NoSQL), and cloud architectures.
• ✓Practical knowledge of network security, firewall configuration, data protection protocols, and disaster recovery planning.
• ✓Strong analytical problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex system incidents independently.
• ✓Industry certifications (such as Cisco CCNA, CompTIA Security+, AWS, Microsoft Certified, or ITIL) are highly advantageous.
